Overview
Salute 1st provides education and life coaching to young men and boys in elementary, middle school, high school, and community intervention programs, helping them to build a strong foundation for making important life choices. Salute 1st engaged Interactive Knowledge to build an educational platform that provides content in an interesting and easy-to-navigate format.
The Challenge
Salute 1st previously used another platform to provide content to their students, but found it to be limiting in the way that it delivered content to students, as well as the tools that teachers and administrators used to support their students. Salute 1st needed a tool that was better tuned to their specific content needs and provided time-saving functionality so that teachers and administrators could focus on serving their students rather than an educational app. Salute 1st has several courses that are designed for specific age groups, and they needed an educational platform to help organize their content. Salute 1st needed a platform that was easier to enroll institutions, and their related teachers and students, in a way that helped Salute 1st to track the number of users per institution, student progress, etc.
The IK Approach
After evaluating Salute 1st’s content, user needs, and administrative needs, IK adapted a previously developed educational platform model to fit Salute 1st’s needs. We identified the need for an engaging visual flow that could better support students and teachers as they navigate new content. Salute 1st needed data about their users to help develop future materials and continue to improve their offerings. We worked with Salute 1st to shape their content to support improved online learning experiences.
The Results
With creative problem-solving and identifying methods for development efficiency, IK delivered an educational platform that improved administrative functionality and teacher/student experience. IK’s platform creates a rich data source for Salute 1st while providing an onboarding process that is easy for teachers and students to navigate. Teachers and students have better tools for accessing interesting content materials, tracking their progress through the courses, and recognizing success with custom completion certificates. The content pedagogy is clear and easy to follow, making it less time-consuming to onboard new teachers.
