Interactive Knowledge is chosen to Redesign the South Carolina State Museum website
The South Carolina State Museum, located in Columbia, opened in 1988 in the renovated Columbia Mills Building. When the mill opened in 1894, it was the first fully electric-powered textile mill in the world. The State Museum lists the building as its largest artifact. The State Museum is the largest museum in South Carolina with many contemporary features including a digital dome planetarium, a 4D theater and an observatory. The museum offers extensive collections in art, cultural history, science and technology, and natural history organized across four floors of the building.
Interactive Knowledge has been awarded a multi-year contract to redesign, host and support the State Museum’s website. The new website will offer easier access to collections, educational content, ticketing, and programming information. New 360º photography as well as several new video productions will be created during the redesign process and will continue to be updated for several years following the launch in 2023. The redesigned site will be developed using Drupal 9 framework, be responsive for use on a wide variety of devices, and be fully ADA compliant. This exciting project is a great opportunity to brings the State Museum’s digital presence in line with its extensive exhibitions and outstanding facilities.
