American Sabor

Latino musicians have influenced traditional genres of music in the United States, while creating their own new musical styles, such as mambo and salsa. “American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music,” is a content-rich, multimedia website from the Smithsonian that presents the musical contributions of U.S. Latinos from the 1930s to the present.

“American Sabor” is the fifth collaboration between Interactive Knowledge and The Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES), a partnership that has produced such award-winning websites as Corridos Sin Fronteras and Earth From Space.

The site has 84 biographies of Latino musicians, 24 musical styles, 175 photographs and 35 audio/video commentaries. IK not only organized and designed the site, but also assisted in the content research and writing. The site was developed in Drupal.

We are getting rave reviews about the website! Many thanks.
