Eric Veal takes the lead of Interactive Knowledge

After more than 30 years under the stewardship of Tim Songer, Interactive Knowledge, a Charlotte, NC-based strategic digital technology firm has a new owner. On July 1, 2022, Eric Veal became sole owner and President after purchasing the company from the previous ownership group, as Songer continues his focus as the National Sales Manager.

Established in 1991, Interactive Knowledge has a long history of working with many of the best-known cultural organizations and nonprofits in America. Grounded in a deep understanding of interaction and technical design, IK has established a process that facilitates the creation of award-winning applications and digital experiences.

Hired as a Junior Web Developer in 2010, Veal established himself as a key contributor to the company and was promoted to Technology Director in 2015. Eric spearheaded major shifts across the company's products, services, and identity and looks to carry the momentum into his new role. He will remain involved in product development, serving also as Technical Strategist. 

In seven years as Technology Director, he also gained valuable experience in business operations, sales and prospecting, proposal writing, contract negotiating, hiring, and developed a keen interest in cultivating the company’s culture, goals, and vision for the future. 

In speaking with his colleagues on the transition Eric shared, “I’ve made a career of my job at Interactive Knowledge and I’m ready to take the next step in leading the company. Tim has been and will continue to be, an amazing mentor to me. He has worked to forge long-lasting relationships with our clients that I look forward to sustaining.”

Veal has been key to the success of the company during his tenure. "I believe Eric is the ideal President to lead IK’s next chapter of growth and success," said Tim Songer, one of the original founders. "Interactive Knowledge has been in need of an owner with a strong technology background. The company now has that with Eric.”
