Last night I attended the Webby Awards cocktail party on the top of the Standard Hotel in New York
with our clients from the Office of the Chief Information Officer at the Smithsonian, Mike Tuttle and Francisco Camacho. Dana Small from Smithsonian Visitors Services also joined us for the celebration. These folks worked with us throughout most of 2010 as we "refreshed" the Smithsonian's main website - SI.edu. As you might imagine, this was a large and complicated project. Last night was not the first time this project drove us to drink. But the struggle was worth the effort according to thousands of people who voted for us in the 2011 Webby Awards. We won the People's Voice Award in the Cultural Institution category.
The party on top of the Standard Hotel was a loud, high energy affair. I met web developers from all over the world including two Dutch designers who helped create the Anne Frank House website - an incredible site. Tonight we will all attend the awards ceremony at Hammerstein Ballroom. The fun continues...
